The Refractory: Vampirical Ideology

Image
When only one party leads with optimism, there's a pontificating aftertaste. A sort of cliche that's used for gravitational tragedy; It's not the fall, but the sudden stop at the end.  Parties come together for a meeting of the minds. However, when the complacent doesn't 'mind,' this plays out like skipping rocks. Pseudo strides that misleadingly give the impression of distance only to disappear as they're swallowed by darkness. There is little coincidence that when someone gives the failing effort, the heart sinks. A feeling of cold emptiness as if the proverbial stone was their spirit. Hurling themselves into vulnerability before drowning in silence.  Imagine suffocating because volunteering your feelings exhales the emotional soul. What's needed in exchange is the reply of affirmation. Being understood and refilled to breathe again. Instead, the essence of a person dissolves in a large open room, despite an abundance of air.  True loneliness, in the c...

The Rusty Combine

The steps of being a self-defeating person are similar to masochism. One psychological, another mental, as if no one is watching and yet, said person is always observing internally while projecting. A forcefield outward or an object inward.  Little can deter their thought process. What was once objective consideration is now corrupted and unfair. Specifically, to themselves and how any situation needs to unevenly disperse weight to their disadvantage.  This is not out of goodwill or great compassion. If any, such a ratio exists out of coincidence. Though it may seem as if they're shouldering a burden, this is consequential by design. Intended to overwhelm themselves. Not of generosity to anyone externally, but to mimic the internal pressure felt within.  Intensification helps play out the manifestation of poor self-worth. Optimism is a fleeting charade they use. Dealing three-card Monty and keeping success out of the reach with dealer and player bein...

Origin of the Verb

Image
The backstory here: During a discussion with someone, I was meeting an evasive set of vague answers that were designed to end the conversation without clarity. My definition of the truth… is what you believe. This is also, being honest. Until such time that you have facts disputing what you believe. Then you no longer believe the truth. At this point, you are dishonest. I also define the act of honesty by the length of the answer in relation to a line. The shortest distance between two points is honest; anything longer is dishonest. --------------------------------------------------------- Ultimately, someone “said so,” etc. is not a reason. ‘Said’ is the verb, which is an act derived from the reason. I am looking for the origin of the verb. --------------------------------------------------------- Inquiry: Questions representing a cave system with a need to find daylight on the other side. Pick a tunnel and root it to the end, hoping for the way out. However, often...

Expanse v. Endangered:
Discipline is Voluntary

Image
Controls are a vital mechanism of any experiment. The conscious, and those who are not, all participate in these evolutionary gambles. Animals  suffer displacement as humans expand. Species have acclimated to specific climates and conditions throughout existence. When a forest disappears, the inhabitants aren’t simply in need of adjustment, they’re constrained by evolution.  Imagine the despair of a person who loses a home. Their housing is an environment built to control the elements. There’s seven billion fellow humans and a series of sanctuary like options we’ve developed to accommodate refugees. Does nature have this?  Humans partition wildlife preserves because the animals are best in as natural a habitat as possible. Communities ban exotic and endangered species from ownership. We can take in our neighbor who is experiencing housing issues… But, not a tiger or a protected snake. These creatures pose a danger.  Species disappear every day. Chosen ones will be ex...

Sleepy & Hollow

This was originally the reply to a social media post about school shooting origins... ------------------------------- I never understood why we can't see the correlation between distance and school shootings. Not just the proverbial, but the social travel distance between folks.  You run across people who decide they're going to speak in gunpowder instead of being frustrated anymore. It never used to be like that. Especially where I grew up.  I remember people having gun racks in the trucks, right there, in the parking lot at school. But, that wasn't an issue because everybody knew everybody. We all said hello and we all had our good and bad vibes with each other. Even so, everybody didn't have to feel like they were special.   Entitlement is a popular word of the day... There's a theory- maybe that's it? Hell, I've known Harry Chapin's song "Sniper" nearly my entire life. There's even a lot of early evidence that the initial school s...

Fabrications: The Entowelment

Image
by Michael L. Craver She saw him rise out of the water, shaking off his hair like a dog… She had to cover her face and turn away. When she looked back, he was walking just this side of the sun. Hard to see anything but his dark silhouette. That’s when the towel wrapped round his waist covered him changing right there in the open.         There was no shortage of manners in the way she was raised. However, mentally adding weight to that fabric, wishing for a wardrobe malfunction was questionable. As the proverbial battle good versus evil neared a climax, he tore away the towel. This was his exit, and she promised herself to make a move today.         No matter how fast she found a ladder and shuffled for her sandals, he was on the other side of the fence. She had to run to the lockers for her bag and keys. By now, her education clicked both sides of her brain together and she came to the realization he was gone...
