My Bipolar Navigator
Those thoughtful people who take it easy on us.
Cutting a break on homework.
Being let out of a speeding ticket.
Severing a relationship in the style of an amputated limb.
Awful events take place around us too.
The reason each thing happens may not be a good one.
Something only the living can debate.
A special dessert because it’s your birthday. Coupons redeemed so
you’ll save and hopefully return. Systems to make your reward present on a
receipt. However, there are malicious versions where items make their way to
you. Undocumented changes betraying trust. Breakdowns that soften the
structure.
Perhaps grades that are boosted, even manufactured, to assist with
athletic standards. The stricter past a faded memory, where breaks meant extra
work for bonus credit. Extend the grading scale to push more folks through. The
pursuit of excellence sliding away like an old glacier melting into the sea.
Together we suffer as discipline is lost.
Passively accepting the faltering metrics.
Like folks given opportunity to inspect themselves.
Conflicts of interest to the public at large.
Unfair competition complicated by making things easier.
Resolutions will follow eventual consequences.
Where shortcuts are made,
pencils are dull,
eyesight is strained.
Quality is fleeting.
Fixes come as a settlement or
A recall - following profits.
How can ugly decisions by others make it easier? Cheating, deception;
betrayal; mentally dicing a relationship into crude parts. Pieces that no
longer fit.
Dirty deeds leaving you fraught
with the decision of moving
versus leaving it all behind.
with the decision of moving
versus leaving it all behind.
Shattered mirrors of an old reflection.
Feelings are split like broken glass. The truth remains clear.
The gift of independence delivered by our pseudo soulmate.
Weather comes into our lives without our permission.
Dictating disaster and ruining forecasts.
Giving us daylight. Sometimes there are rainbows.
Often there’s erosion. Watering our gardens.
Destroying our possessions.
Leaving us fearing for our existence.
Evacuations spare us.
For others the break comes as the eye of the storm gives a calm
intermission.
Wreckage to follow. Sunshine thereafter.
Just maybe… insurance is going to reinvigorate where dilapidation held
residence.
Retrospect allows us to steer forward. Away from undesirable outcomes
from our history.
Racing forward we’re appreciating life. Breaks come from malintent as
well as warm hearts.
Choices by outsiders keeping this rollercoaster of mortality on the
tracks.
Traffic slows with congestion.
Keeping us from a disaster that was about to poignantly arrive.
Rubbernecking at a slow pace.
Reflecting in slow motion. Mortality saved by the brakes. Would’ve,
should’ve, could’ve been us.
